- Resistant to grease, oils and food spillages.
- Waterproof and easy to sanitise.
- Extremely durable under heavy foot traffic.
- Designed for frequent cleaning and washdowns.
- Long-lasting performance in demanding environments.
Specialist kitchen flooring helps businesses maintain safe working conditions while protecting the underlying subfloor and reducing long-term maintenance costs.
Where Commercial Kitchen Flooring Is Used
Restaurant Kitchen Flooring
Restaurant kitchens are fast-paced environments where flooring must cope with heat, grease, heavy equipment and constant movement from staff during busy service periods. Choosing the right flooring helps maintain both safety and hygiene while ensuring the kitchen continues to operate efficiently.
Our commercial kitchen flooring solutions are designed specifically for these demanding conditions.
Slip-resistant surfaces improve grip underfoot, while durable materials resist oils, cleaning chemicals and daily wear. The result is a practical flooring system that supports restaurant teams while helping kitchens remain compliant with food safety standards.
In addition to safety and durability, restaurant kitchens also benefit from flooring that is easy to maintain.
A smooth, non-porous surface helps prevent the build-up of grease and dirt, allowing staff to clean the floor quickly and maintain a hygienic workspace throughout the day.
Takeaway & Fast Food Kitchen Flooring
Takeaway and fast-food kitchens often operate in smaller spaces where staff are constantly moving between cooking stations, preparation areas and serving counters. Flooring in these environments must remain safe and durable despite the fast pace of service.
Slip-resistant commercial kitchen flooring helps reduce the risk of accidents caused by spills, grease or moisture.
At the same time, its hard-wearing surface withstands the demands of heavy equipment, frequent cleaning and constant foot traffic.
Because takeaway kitchens rarely have downtime, the flooring must be built to last without requiring regular repairs or maintenance.
A well-installed safety flooring system helps ensure the kitchen remains reliable, hygienic and easy to manage even during peak trading hours.
Commercial Catering Kitchen flooring
Large catering kitchens place significant strain on flooring due to the size of the space and the scale of operations.
Heavy appliances, food preparation equipment and regular deliveries all contribute to the wear experienced by kitchen floors.
Commercial kitchen flooring provides a robust surface capable of supporting this activity while maintaining essential safety features. Slip-resistant finishes improve traction in busy work areas, helping staff move confidently between stations.
Durability is particularly important in catering environments where the kitchen may be in operation for long hours each day.
Specialist kitchen flooring offers long-term performance while remaining easy to clean and maintain as part of daily hygiene routines.
School & Institutional Kitchen Flooring
Kitchens in schools, hospitals and other institutions must meet strict hygiene and safety requirements. Flooring in these environments plays an important role in supporting cleanliness while providing a safe surface for staff preparing meals throughout the day.
Commercial kitchen flooring offers a non-porous finish that helps prevent the build-up of dirt, grease and bacteria.
This makes routine cleaning more effective and helps maintain high hygiene standards in environments where food preparation must meet regulatory guidelines.
In addition to hygiene, durability is essential. Institutional kitchens serve large numbers of people every day, meaning the flooring must withstand constant use while continuing to perform reliably over time.
Pub & Hospitality Kitchen Flooring
Behind the scenes in pubs, hotels and hospitality venues, kitchens operate continuously to keep up with customer demand. Flooring must therefore handle a mixture of heat, moisture, spillages and heavy foot traffic without becoming a safety risk.
Slip-resistant commercial kitchen flooring helps create a stable working surface for chefs and kitchen staff.
Even in wet or greasy conditions, the flooring maintains grip underfoot while remaining easy to clean at the end of service.
Hospitality kitchens also benefit from flooring that maintains its durability over time. A high-quality commercial kitchen floor supports smooth operations while helping venues maintain a clean and professional working environment.

Slip Resistance in Commercial Kitchen Flooring
Safety is a top priority in any commercial kitchen. Floors are often exposed to water, grease and food spillages, which can create hazardous conditions if the flooring does not provide adequate grip.
Commercial kitchen flooring is manufactured with specialist surfaces designed to improve traction and reduce the risk of slips and falls.
Typical slip ratings include:
| Rating | Environment |
|---|---|
| R10 | Standard commercial environments |
| R11 | Busy kitchens and food preparation areas |
| R12 | High-risk wet or greasy environments |
Choosing the correct slip rating helps ensure your kitchen remains safe for staff while meeting important health and safety standards.

FAQs
What is the best flooring for a commercial kitchen?
Safety vinyl flooring is one of the most popular choices for commercial kitchens because it provides excellent slip resistance, durability and hygiene. It is designed to withstand grease, moisture and heavy foot traffic while remaining easy to clean and maintain.
Does commercial kitchen flooring need to be slip resistant?
Yes. Commercial kitchen flooring should always include slip-resistant properties to help reduce the risk of accidents. Kitchens often experience spills, grease and water on the floor, so safety flooring with an appropriate slip rating helps protect staff and maintain a safe working environment.
Is commercial kitchen flooring waterproof?
Most commercial kitchen flooring solutions are designed to be water-resistant or waterproof. This helps protect the subfloor from moisture damage and allows kitchens to be cleaned regularly without damaging the flooring surface.

With professional installation and proper maintenance, commercial kitchen flooring can typically last between 10 and 20 years depending on the level of foot traffic and the type of flooring used.
Can commercial kitchen flooring be installed without closing the kitchen
In many cases, installation can be scheduled outside of normal operating hours or completed in phases to minimise disruption. Our team works with businesses to plan installation at a time that causes the least impact on daily operations
How much does it cost to fit commercial flooring?
The cost to fit commercial flooring will depend on: the type of flooring, the size of the space, the amount of preparation required, and the unique requirements of the job.
